BLACK GROUND BEETLE |
|
![]() These beetles are a nuisance pest, occasionally found indoors and confused with cockroaches. Usually they are found outdoors under stones, logs, leaves, and other decomposing organic debris. They are attracted to lights, which is why they come into homes. They are a little over a half-inch in size, have an elongated shape, are
colored black, and are most active at night. They prey upon caterpillars, grubs, larvae, earthworms, and even slugs and snails—so they can be beneficial. Despite having wings, they do not fly.
