Rats spread disease, damage structures and contaminate food. THE RAT CONTROL PROGRAM IN THE WORLD Each type of pest has different characteristics and life cycles, and each requires a different plan to effectively overcome the infestation. We know that nothing ever gets done right without a plan. You know the old saying, “plan your work and work your plan”. Florida Pest Management, Inc has the plan and our technicians work this plan to the fullest to control your rat problems.
The PlanUsing the most effective rat control products made (a multi-feed formula that is specifically designed to affect rodent physiology plus specially designed, tamper-resistant feeding stations) in conjunction with innovative control procedures, we do the following: • Step 1: We always perform a thorough survey of the property to determine the extent of the infestation, the most popular areas frequented by the rats, and entry points that give them access to the interior of the home. (An inventory of all your landscape plantings is always taken so we know where to look for rodent activity or nesting sites).
![]() • Step 2: We place the tamper-resistant bait stations containing bait in the areas where we believe the most activity is taking place or where we know nesting sites are sure to be found. Usually this is in densely landscaped areas, around trees, hedges & thick ground cover. The number of bait stations is determined by the extent of the activity, but usually 2 to 5 stations are adequate on an average size property
![]() • Step 3: Recommendations are given to the property owner so that the conditions which draw the rats to the property can be minimized or completely eliminated. Recommendations can include removal of, or thinning out of, dense landscape plantings, the pruning of trees away from structures, the removal of food sources such as snails, fallen fruit, trash from lidless trash cans or exposed trash bags, etc. *The rat population outside must be reduced before any changes to the landscape or structure are done.
![]() We know that no matter what the plan, without a regularly scheduled control program, reinfestation is a sure thing. Re-baiting of the stations at regular intervals (every 6 weeks), and movement of the stations from low feeding sites to high feeding sites is crucial in maintaining control of the rat population.
